Raf Simons' Spring/Summer 2002 collection embodied the essence of rage and fear-mongering through graphic imagery, visual poetry, and the runway show itself. Under Raf's direction, graphic genius Peter De Potter created lasting images and typographic designs that adorned menacing silhouettes. The collection, titled "Woe Onto Those Who Spit on the Fear Generation... The Wind Will Blow It Back," showcased Simons at his rawest and most enraged.
Influenced by the tragic events of 9/11, the runway presentation was overtly militant, reflecting the restless sentiments of youth in an era of fear-mongering. Simons's youthful soldiers appeared to have had enough, marching down the runway with smoking red flares in hand. This collection marked one of Peter De Potter's first collaborations with Simons.
